UNIFYING POLICY MANAGEMENT ACROSS A LARGE ACADEMIC HEALTH SYSTEM

The Challenge

In 2014, following substantial growth, a large multi-hospital system with over 250 clinics in the Southeastern United States recognized the need for standardized policy management. Each hospital and unit had independently created and managed policies, leading to inefficiencies and inconsistencies. To unify the organization and patient experience, the corporate team launched an initiative to standardize and consolidate policies. The Solution

• Assigning an MCN Implementation Specialist to guide the process.

• Standardizing over 30 policy manuals across the organization.

• Training system administrators and key personnel on software functionality.

• Designing a structured, searchable policy database.

• Establishing a process for policy creation, approval, and ongoing management.

By the end of 2017, the MCN Policy Manager was fully implemented, granting access to all employees and significantly improving policy standardization.
